SMUD Rebates – Central Air Conditioning Rebate Program

If you are a SMUD customer and are interested in purchasing a new air conditioning system, you may be eligible for SMUD Rebates up to $1100 on the cost of the new unit.

smud rebates central air conditioning rebate programWhen it comes to buying a new air conditioning system it is often difficult to think about investing such a large sum of money into something you can’t really see, unlike a new kitchen. However, when those Sacramento summers hit and it is 100 plus degrees outside, you will be so thankful for your air conditioner and nice cool home.  If your home is more than 10-15 years old, it is time to consider upgrading to a higher-efficiency air conditioning system.  As time as gone by, the manufacturers of HVAC equipment have improved the technology to more effectively use energy but generate the same amount of cooling capacity. Thus, the less energy used, the lower your utility bills.  Who doesn’t want lower utility bills?

Ratings Needed for High Efficiency SMUD Rebates

In order to be eligible to receive SMUD Rebates from the High-Efficiency Air Conditioning Program, there are specific Energy Star efficiency ratings that must be met. Chances are if you home is 10 – 15 years old, the efficiency rating on your current HVAC system is around 10.0  SEER.   If you want to install a split air conditioning system, where the air conditioner and furnace are housed separately, the minimum SEER and EER ratings are 14.5 and 12.0 respectively. Keep in mind these are the minimum ratings. The higher the SEER and EER ratings, the more efficient the equipment so you will receive a higher rebate.  If you are want to install a packaged air conditioning system, where the air conditioner and furnace are housed in a single enclosure, the minimum SEER and EER ratings are 14.0 and 11.0.  If you would like more information about the differences between split and package HVAC systems or the definitions of SEER and EER ratings, please visit our website at www.premium.dev and click on the Air Conditioning Section.

Additional Requirement needed to obtain Air Conditioning  SMUD Rebates

In order for you to receive the SMUD rebates, a SMUD Participating Contractor must install the air conditioning system. Premium Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. is an approved participating contractor for SMUD Rebates. We are not an agent or affiliate of SMUD.  Give us a call and we will send out the owner of the company to meet with you, not a salesman, to decide which air conditioning system is right for your home. We would be happy to help complete the necessary paperwork needed to obtain your energy rebate.
